Makers FAQ

1
What is a good gift from Nova Scotia?

The gifts that travel best are the ones made in small batches: preserves and jams, sea salt, hand-poured candles, tartan goods, pottery and locally roasted coffee. A curated box combining several is a simple way to send the province rather than a single souvenir.

2
What products is Nova Scotia known for?

Seafood, wild blueberries, maple, sea salt, craft spirits and beer, wool and tartan textiles, pottery, and pewter. Nova Scotia has an unusually dense community of small-batch food producers and craftspeople relative to its population.

3
Where can I buy authentic Nova Scotia souvenirs online?

Buy direct from makers, or from a curator who names them. Our boxes showcase handcrafted products that are exclusive to Atlantic Canada, as opposed to mass-produced souvenirs imported and branded for the tourist market.

4
How does the Atlantic Canada Box work with makers?

Each season we partner with talented makers across Atlantic Canada to showcase unique handcrafted products exclusive to the region. Makers interested in being featured can get in touch through our Maker Application page.

5
Can I apply to have my products featured in a box?

Absolutely. We're always excited to discover new Atlantic Canadian businesses and products. Makers interested in being considered for a future seasonal box can apply through the Maker Application page on our site and tell us about what you make.

6
Are the products in your boxes actually made in Atlantic Canada?

Yes. Each box showcases handcrafted products from makers across the region, chosen to reflect the creativity, culture and flavours of Atlantic Canada.

7
What kinds of products end up in a box?

A mix of home goods, self-care items and treats: handcrafted home décor, artisanal goods and gourmet products from local makers, curated fresh each season.

8
What are the best souvenirs from PEI and Newfoundland?

From PEI: preserves, mustards, wild blueberry products and Island pottery. From Newfoundland and Labrador: partridgeberry and bakeapple preserves, sea-salt confections, and hand-knit wool. Producers across both provinces work in small batches, which is what makes them worth bringing home.

9
Who are the makers featured in The Atlantic Canada Box?

Our makers are small businesses, artisans, food producers, creators, and independent brands from across New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, and Newfoundland & Labrador. Each one brings something special to the box and helps tell the story of our region.

10
Why is supporting local makers important to The Atlantic Canada Box?

Supporting local is at the heart of what we do. Every box creates an opportunity to introduce our customers to independent businesses while helping support local jobs, entrepreneurs, families, and communities throughout Atlantic Canada.

11
Do the makers change with every seasonal box?

Yes! Each seasonal box brings together a new collection of products and makers, giving subscribers the opportunity to discover different businesses from across Atlantic Canada throughout the year.
