Featured Lighthouses

Lighthouse FAQ

1
What is the Featured Lighthouse series?

Each season, The Atlantic Canada Box highlights a lighthouse from somewhere across Atlantic Canada. It's our way of celebrating the coastal landmarks, maritime history, and communities that make our region so special.

2
Why does The Atlantic Canada Box feature a lighthouse each season?

Lighthouses are an iconic part of Atlantic Canada's coastal landscape and maritime heritage. Featuring a different lighthouse with each seasonal box allows us to share a little more of the history, scenery, and stories of our region with our subscribers.

3
Which Atlantic Canadian provinces are featured?

Our lighthouse series explores landmarks throughout New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, and Newfoundland & Labrador, giving subscribers the opportunity to discover coastal communities from across Atlantic Canada.

4
How do you choose the featured lighthouse?

We select lighthouses based on their history, location, architecture, stories, and connection to Atlantic Canada's coastal culture. We also love highlighting both well-known landmarks and lesser-known coastal gems.

5
Is a new lighthouse featured in every seasonal box?

Yes. We feature a different lighthouse with each Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter/Holiday Atlantic Canada Box, so subscribers can discover four unique coastal landmarks throughout the year.

Nova Scotia has roughly 160 lighthouses standing, more than any other province in Canada. Only a fraction remain active aids to navigation today, but many of the retired ones are cared for by local preservation societies and open to visitors.
